How to Stay Consistent With Interior Designing?
Whenever we see a nice item for our home, we can’t help but buy it especially if it’s been
discounted or better, on a bargain. However not all items fit our home. There are some things that need to be
displayed while others can be put away or placed in another room. Let’s face it, all of us are not born with
interior designing talents but there are some ways you can do to keep your own interior designing
consistent.
Take a look around your home. Do
you see any inconsistencies? If this is the case then it’s time to learn the key to being consistent with your own
designs. The first thing you need is a theme for your home. This is the first thing you should have in mind. It
doesn’t matter what kind of theme just as long as you are consistent with all the designs. Your designs should
match or compliment an item or color of your furnitures. If your windows have a design then there must be a design
to all your windows. You can start working from the front to back this way the first windows seen compliments your
home.
Giving your home some touch-ups
is also another way to be consistent with your designs. Keep in mind that any disruption in your theme will be
unappealing to your visitors. So make sure that you give your designs some touch ups. For example, if your room’s
theme is minimal then don’t put overwhelming furnitures in this room. Instead, put simple furnitures that match.
Keep it small and spacious. Maybe put a painting that matches your theme or a modern piece of art that you can put
in one corner or anything that does not clash with your theme. This way your visitors will understand what your
room is all about.
Use paints with complementary
colors. If your house’s theme is pastel then find pastel colors. Don’t put anything that will disrupt the colors of
your theme. This will only look ridiculous and unattractive. You should keep it as you planned it to be. In
addition to that, when choosing items to compliment your home, make sure it doesn’t look foreign. Keep it like it
has been a part of your home. This way your items and furnitures complement each
other.
If you are a fixture enthusiast
like me, make sure that your hardware and fixture finishes are uniform. See if your faucets look the same. If you
have a stainless steel faucet or faucets with synthetic taps then make sure that they are all the same. This will
also show that you have good taste. Also compliment them with door knobs, cabinet handles and even appliances. If
your kitchen’s theme is stainless steel, then be sure that the fixtures and appliances complement each other so
that they will understand what your theme is all about.
In conclusion, consistency
usually flows within the designer. If you’re not an interior designer then surely, you will see the difference
yourself. You just have to keep a sharp eye on details.
