Wicker Storage Baskets

Welcome to our wicker storage baskets page! These baskets always remind me of growing up in Europe and going to pick blueberries in the forest with my aunt. I think that most people when they think of a wicker basket, it has to do with the story of red riding hood and the wolf. These have been popular for many generations, and since not many people in the states go picking wild blueberries the next best task for them is storage. They are an elegant way to store some of your favorite belongings and also bring a bit of the old country atmosphere into the house.

When shopping for a wicker basket, you might be a bit amazed at the amount of the styles, designs and price ranges that these fall into. Try to find one which is well constructed, maybe even with a metal frame for that extra strength. Some of the parts of the wicker basket might start to wear out, bend or snap and that will shorten the life span of the product. This is extremely important if you are planning to keep heavier stuff in there or have kids. Mine love to sit or play with the baskets and they have to be quite durable to survive those days. The weave on it should be tight and stiff without much room left for movement.

There are different colors available so try to match the one you choose with the decor of your house. Otherwise they will stick out and this might not be what you are going for. The one which I like the most is of an espresso color and it looks almost like a part of the shelving unit on which it sits.

Since some of them have a bit of a chemical smell, allow for them to air out outside or in a room where no one is sleeping in, when you first purchase the basket.

Figure out the measurement of the basket as well. You might need one that is large, with handles, with liners, with shelves or just an extra large one to store a lot of misc. items. This takes a bit of preplanning but can save a lot of time later on. Otherwise you might have a hard time figuring out where to place it or have to waste time returning the item in order to exchange it for something else.
