CD & DVD Storage
Welcome to
our CD & DVD Storage page! There are many
types of these products available on the market and it is
sometimes easy to become overwhelmed with all of the selection
available. This page is designed to make this process easier,
go through the most known storage
devices and teach you how to find the best deals
possible. The economy is in the dumps and most people do not
want to nor want to break the bank when shopping for one of
these. However, that should not stop anybody from being able to
get and keep organized.
As your media selection grows, a time
will come when it will become too much to handle without a good
way of storing it. Even though it might not bother you
initially, after you get to the point where you cannot find the
movie or music album that you are looking for it will start to
become annoying.
DVD Storage Furniture
Solutions (Cabinets,
Cases, Rack, Tower)
Cabinets - These come either with one
or two doors on them and the size will depend on the amount of
media that you are looking to store within them. The models are
usually made out of wood,
metal or plastic. No
matter if you want the contemporary look
or you are looking for something more futuristic, there will be
something here for you. These can also be a part of the
entertainment system setup with cabinets surrounding the
opening for the actual television.
Cases - When you are looking for
stand-alone storage for your movies than cases are usually a
good way to go. They can hold a lot of pieces as well as often
come without any doors and this will allow for you to display
your collection. I have noticed some people show off other
things than CD's or DVD's in these and they really do serve
their purpose quite nicely.
Rack - Usually a bit smaller than
cases, these will stand tall and might even reach close to the
ceiling. Also a good way to store the collection. Make sure to
get one of the DVD racks which will match the
decor or the room and other
furniture within it as otherwise this
will stick out like a sore thumb.
Tower - This one reminds me of Tower
records which closed its doors, partly to the online sales and
partly to the ongoing bootlegging of music. DVD
towers used to be very popular a few years back
and are quite small. Some have openings on all sides and
rotate, which allow to place a very nice sized collection
within them. The rotating ones are a bit tricky especially when
made out of plastic as they tend to start malfunctioning under
the weight and it is better to get ones with a metal frame.
DVD Storage Boxes
Unlike regular boxes, these are especially made to store
media well. Normal compact discs or DVD's do not last for too
long under normal conditions, especially the ones that you
burned yourself. The average time frame for them run at around
10 to 20 years but it isn't exactly known as they haven't been
on the market long enough to experience a large failure
rate.
Before purchasing, decide how many of the items you are
going to place in the box and that it does not allow sun or
moisture to seep through. These two elements are the ones most
dangerous to the wellbeing of your DVDs. I recommend ones with
handles as these boxes can get quite heavy when filled.
DVD Storage
Binder
The DVD binders can come in all shapes
and sizes. They can be square, rectangle or oval in shape and
hold anywhere from one to ten CDs on one sheet. They are very
easy to close and store on a regular
shelf or in a
cabinet next to the entertainment system
and although not the best storage, these are the cheapest way
to go.
