Storage Ottoman
Welcome to our page about
the Storage
Ottoman!
Any piece of storage that you purchase should not break
your bank and I guarantee that we will help you find
something that works with your budget and also your
house. The Ottoman is usually placed somewhere
within the living room and it is most often near the
entertainment. There are many uses for it as you can
storage items such as movies, music or games within it. I
also have a few of my older gaming systems inside it as
it is very convenient to get to them when the family
feels like having some retro fun.
The best pieces come in real
or leather like material with brown or similar accents. In
order to get one that matches your decor and fits the space
that it will be placed in, it is very important to first gain
an idea of what that room will look like. If the rest of the
furniture is in a red or other unique color than a simple
classy type of an Ottoman will look out of place. They also do
come in other colors but most of those will either
be custom made or need a special order to obtain. Most
stores only stock the most common types which the regular
public is most likely to purchase as they don to have unlimited
space in their showroom.
Some Features To
Look For:
The top cushion or
tufted lift. It should be cushy but not too much as
you are likely to use it to put your feet on and want some type
of support. If you have any kids in the house, it might
be wise to either buy or install a closing mechanism that stops
the top from shutting too fast as that can cause injury. These
can be obtained at any hardware store and only require a drill
and screws to install. You might not be a very technical
person, however, and in that case it is better to get one
already pre-installed. You might also want one that actually
locks when closed, so that it isn't open by mistake.
Weight. Remember that these do weigh quite a
bit especially when you put things in
them. Do
not attempt to move it by yourself unless you feel up to it as
you may cause a back injury which usually does not heal very
well. If the product is not very heavy and
you have wooden floors, the legs of it might leave marks if
moved. In this case also consider purchasing a smaller modern
area rug or carpet to go underneath it. Even simply placing
your legs on it may move it and this will scrape your floors
which then might have to get re-buffed which is very
expensive.
Assembly. Some of these pieces require some
assembly when they first get to the house. You might have to
install the legs and the top of the Ottoman yourself so ask in
advance when in the store or look for other people's reviews if
buying it on the internet. I recommend going for ones with at
least ten reviews as these will be more popular and have enough
feedback on them which is necessary to make a good purchase. If
you are not very good at such things, I suggest that you get a
family member or friend to help so that you do not break
anything as exact replacement parts are not easy to come
across.
Storage: Find out the exact amount of storage
space that is available within the product. Each of these may
have a different thickness of walls and maybe even compartments
within it. Unless you have an idea of what you are going to
store inside of it, this will be really hard to do. There is a
huge difference between the space needed to store media as
opposed to a bed mattress comforter.
The good thing about the
darker types is that even if the piece gets dirty, it doesn't
show it very much. Cleaning an Ottoman usually requires a
professional cleaner, but for oil based stains, a professional
degreaser is recommended.
